Baby Reindeer Martha club cancelled

Kasbah club cancels ‘real’ Martha from Baby Reindeer appearance due to ‘negative publicity’

‘The promoter has deemed the event unsafe’

Kasbah Nightclub in Coventry has released a statement declaring it has cancelled the club appearance meet and greet with Fiona Harvey, alleged to be the inspiration behind Martha from Baby Reindeer on Netflix, due to “the negative publicity”.

The club has received major backlash on social media after it shared a poster on its Facebook and Instagram pages saying it has booked Fiona Harvey, who has come forward as the alleged real woman who inspired Martha in Baby Reindeer, just a few days after her big profile interview with Piers MorganClub claims to have booked Martha from Baby Reindeer for appearance

Claiming the club appearance was a “world exclusive”, Kasbah club writes: “A personal appearance by Fiona Harvey aka Martha of Baby Reindeer this Saturday 18th May. She will be signing autographs, taking selfies and she may also take a lucky reindeer home to hang her curtains.”

The reaction to the post was extremely negative. On Facebook, someone commented: “This isn’t okay, don’t take advantage of someone so vulnerable.” Kasbah responded: “The actor has starred in a series based on his own true life story, he literally created the publicity for her? He’s laughing all the way to the bank.”

The “real” Martha, Fiona Harvey, recently did an interview with Piers Morgan where she told him that she “is not a stalker” and has never spent time in prison. “It is completely untrue and very career damaging,” she said. “I want to rebut that. I’m not a stalker. It’s just complete nonsense.”

The Tab reached out to Kasbah for a comment on this, but the club never responded. Last night, Kasbah club made a new post on Instagram claiming that the event was cancelled, in which Kasbah sarcastically thanked news outlets for the “free publicity.”

The statement read: “Unfortunately, the promoter of this Saturday’s meet and greet with Fiona Harvey has deemed the event unsafe and cancelled the appearance due to negative publicity. We would however, like to thank him for considering our venue.

“In particular, we’d like to thank Metro, Daily Mail, BBC, CoventryLive, Birmingham Mail, ITV news, The Independent, NME, Glasgow Live, MSN, The Sun, Daily Mirror, Warwick Boar, Business Insider, The Tab, CNN and numerous Instagram meme pages with a combined total of 33 million followers for their support and free publicity – you guys are the gift that keeps on giving.

“Open as normal this Friday, Saturday and Monday from 10.30pm. Simply quote ‘Martha’ at the front door on Saturday to receive £1 off entry before midnight.”
