Bridgerton filmed an alternate end for Cressida in season three and it was totally different

Oh what could have been!

It turns out that there was a completely different alternate ending for Cressida Cowper at the end of season three filmed for Bridgerton, that Netflix decided not to go with.

At the end of season three, we saw Cressida being banished in a carriage, off to live with a spinster aunt in a remote corner of Wales. This came after she peaked as the Ton’s mean girl, and had attempted to blackmail Penelope and Colin.

However, in an interview, Jessica Madsen who plays Cressida has said the show filmed a second ending, that was totally different to this. “We did shoot a different ending,” she told Entertainment Weekly. “I don’t know whether she is going to her aunt’s because we actually don’t see her aunt in the carriage. So, it could be that she’s off somewhere by herself.

“[In the first ending we shot], Lady Cowper actually came to save her, and got in the carriage with her and they left together. I had a caged bird in my hair with a little door and Lady Cowper had the key.”

Show runner Jess Brownell also spoke about the ending that was planned for Cressida in Bridgerton, and why the show decided to change it up.

“We shot an alternate ending where her mother gets in the carriage at the end and actually chooses her daughter,” she said. “It was a really beautiful moment. But in the edit, Shonda [Rhimes] and I talked about the fact that it felt like an ending for Cressida. It felt like it wrapped up her story and we intentionally wanted to leave it so that we can tell a bit more story with Cressida next season.”

I can’t wait to see what happens next!
