‘I’m grateful’: Armie Hammer addresses ‘hilarious’ claims he’s a cannibal for the first time

Interesting perspective on the claims you’ve got a kink for eating people I guess

Armie Hammer has spoken out for the first time on the claims and internet rumours that he is a cannibal in a new podcast appearance. In a candid interview, he spoke about the sexual assault allegations and the cannibal rumours and Armie Hammer says he is now “grateful” it all happened.

In 2021, various women came forward and accused Hammer of abuse and assault which resulted in him being dropped from numerous acting jobs. No legal case ever moved forward, but quotes from the women have never went away. One ex-girlfriend told Vanity Fair that the two shared an extreme relationship and said “You never know what you’re going to get with him – he’s kind of a scary person. He would say things to me … weird stuff … like, ‘I want to eat your ribs.’” Another woman told Page Six that Armie Hammer “branded her, purposefully left her covered in bruises, and also talked about ‘consuming her'”.

Speaking last night on the Painful Lessons podcast, Armie Hammer said “People called me a cannibal and everyone believed them,” Hammer said. “Now I’m able to sort of look at it with a sense of distance and perspective and be like, ‘That’s hilarious’. They were like, ‘Yep, that guy ate people’ Like, what? What are you talking about? You know what you have to do to be a cannibal? You have to eat people! … It was bizarre.

“Whatever it was that people said, whatever it was that happened, I’m now at a place in my life where I’m grateful for every single bit of it.”

Speaking about the impact it had on his career, Hammer said “It was an ego death, a career death … A neutron bomb went off in my life. It killed off [everything].”

He also spoke about how he felt suicidal in the year he retreated to the Cayman Islands, away from the public eye. “There were a lot of times when I thought, ‘I can’t take this any more.’ And I hit really low, dark points,” he said. “I was standing on the shore and I just looked out at the ocean and thought, ‘Yep, this is it,’ and I just swam out really fucking far … and was just laying there … [in] a half-assed suicide attempt … [But I thought] I can’t do that to my kids.”

At the time of the allegations, Armie Hammer’s attorney said on the assault claims “These assertions about Mr. Hammer are patently untrue. Any interactions with this person, or any partner of his, were completely consensual in that they were fully discussed, agreed upon, and mutually participatory.”

Armie Hammer himself addressed the abuse allegations in an interview in February 2023, where he said once again that nothing abusive happened but he did engage in consensual BDSM acts. He also said he felt “the power dynamics were off”.
