This is how much the MAFS Australia 2023 cast got paid to be on the show

Spoiler alert! It isn’t much

Married at First Sight Australia groom Jesse Burford has revealed just how much the season 10 cast were paid to appear on the show this year.

During an Instagram Q&A, Jesse was asked by one of his followers how much he and the MAFS Australia 2023 cast were paid during the experiment, to which he responded: “We got paid $1,175 each week.”

Previous MAFS Australia cast members have revealed they were paid $150 a day during the show, which would be $1,050 a week.

Former MAFS Australia groom Nasser Sultan, who appeared on the 2019 season, previously told Now to Love: “You get $150 for the day, that’s it.

“But on top of that, you have to pay expenses – your living expenses with the woman that you marry.

“It’s not $150 clear. You still have to pay rent if you’re renting, you’ve got to pay your rego and it’s 12 hour filming days.”

According to Nasser, the Married at First Sight Australia contracts states that cast members “get a per diem” or a daily allowance, so they are not being “paid for work” but receiving money to cover  expenses.

“That’s what you live on,” he said.

Former cast members have also expressed their disappointment over the pay they received, likening it to minimum wage.

Al Perkins, who appeared on the show in 2022, told Daily Mail Australia: “You’ve got to do all your own hair and makeup. You’ve got to do your own dress, buy your own clothes. You get paid $150 a day, tax-free. It’s not good.”
