Stylax from Plebs singing Losing My Religion? That’s going right on my watchlist

Bank of Dave is Netflix’s latest movie which tells the story of a self-made millionaire who is trying to set up a community bank to help the local town. For him to be able to do this, he has to compete the first banking license in over 100 years. The cast of Bank of Dave is full of loads of familiar faces from all different British TV shows and movies.

The cast has the kind of celebrities where you’ve seen them in a TV show before but can’t quite put their finger on who they are. So to avoid the continuous pausing and Googling, this is where you recognise the cast of Bank of Dave from.

Joel Fry – Hugh

The lawyer trying to make the Bank of Dave happen is played by British actor Joel Fry. Viewers may recognise him for his role in Plebs as Stylax. Joel has some pretty impressive acting credits to his name including Game of Thrones, White Van Man and Yesterday.

In 2021, Joel starred alongside Emma Stone, Emma Thompson and Mark Strong in Disney’s Cruella. A man of many talents!

Phoebe Dynevor – Alexandra

There is no doubt about who Phoebe Dynevor is, and it’s not just because her mum is Sally Metcalfe in Coronation Street. Phoebe’s breakout role, of course, was as Daphne Bridgerton in the Netflix series Bridgerton. Before her role in Bridgerton, Phoebe starred in Waterloo Road, Prisoners’ Wives and Dickensian.

Hugh Bonneville – Charles

Hugh Bonneville is no stranger to the screen, especially when it comes to iconic British dramas, yes I’m talking about Paddington. Hugh Bonneville is probably most well known for his role as Robert Crawley in Downton Abbey. He has also had notable roles in Paddington, Notting Hill and the TV series Twenty Twelve.

Jo Hartley plays the role of Nicola Fishwick, Dave’s wife, in Bank of Dave. Jo is probably best known for her roles in Bliss, This is England and In My Skin. She also recently starred in the 2021 romantic drama film Sweetheart, alongside Nell Barlow and Ella-Rae Smith.

Naomi Battrick – Henrietta

via Netflix

Naomi’s character is definitely one where you knew her face but couldn’t pinpoint the exact TV series or movie you had seen her in. Naomi Battrick starred as Gabriella Wark in BBC’s Waterloo Road from seasons nine to 10. More notably, Naomi starred as the lead in the historical drama Jamestown as Jocelyn Woodbryg. She has also starred in Cherry Tree, The Serpent Queen and Stonemouth.

Angus Wright – Clarence

via Netflix

Angus Wright is Hugh’s boss, Clarence, in Bank of Dave. The American-British actor is best known for his role as Dickie Franks in The Courier, Hammerhead Captain Star Wars: Rogue One and as Martin Furnival Jones in Netflix’s The Crown.
