Lancashire police has arrested and charged a man following a stabbing in Lancaster.

Last Thursday, February 2nd, a 30-year-old man received injuries to his neck and hand.

Over the weekend, police arrested Shane Robert, 27, who has been charged with Section 18 Wounding, affray, and possession of an offensive weapon. He was remanded back into custody on Monday morning.

The stabbing took place outside McDonald’s, potentially because of a fallout between people who knew each other. Lancaster Guardian reports that police then cordoned off Church Street and Cheapside.

Lancashire Constabulary stated, “We were called to Cheapside just before 9pm on February 2nd following reports a man in his 30s had received injuries to his neck and hand. He was taken to hospital but his injuries were not life threatening.

“Following enquiries, a 27-year-old man was arrested over the weekend. After consultation with the Crown Prosecution Service, Shane Robert, 27, of no fixed abode, was charged with Section 18 Wounding, affray and possession of an offensive weapon.

“If you witnessed this incident or have any information to offer, please contact DS Rachel Crossley at Lancaster CID.”
