Everything you need to know about the Birmingham vigil for Brianna Ghey

‘No justice, no peace’

Many cities in the UK have been saddened by the death of trans school girl, Brianna Ghey. Many cities, including Birmingham, will be holding vigils in honour of Brianna.

Birmingham’s vigil will take place this Friday, February 17th, at 6.30pm outside the Hippodrome Theatre. Everyone is welcome to the vigil to mourn and pay their respects.

At the vigil there will be an opportunity for mourners to light a candle and participate in a moment of silence to honour Brianna.

As well as honouring Brianna, the vigil aims to send a message to keep trans youth safe. Organisers of vigils across the country are calling for better protection of the trans community, primarily young trans people.

The Birmingham vigil was organised by @thetranstearoom on Instagram, the University of Birmingham’s LGBTQ+ association has openly shown support.

You can donate to the GoFundMe to support Brianna’s family here.
