University of Leeds retains its top 25 position in leading UK league table

Leeds Beckett and Leeds Trinity also improve on their scores from 2023

University of Leeds has again been ranked in the top 25 UK universities to study at, according to The Times Good University Guide 2024.

Coming in at 24th, one place below its 2023 result, Leeds received a total score of 710.

Its graduate prospects were rated 86 per cent, and therefore 23rd best nationally, whilst it’s high volume – 88.8 per cent – of first class and upper second class (2:1) qualifications, put it at 13th best nationally.

Joining Durham, Lancaster, York, Sheffield and Manchester as the only six northern English universities to make the first 25, Leeds also scored 57 per cent for research quality, 3.2 per cent better than the overall number one university, St Andrews.

Its teaching quality, student experience and continuation rate (the amount of students who complete their courses) were awarded 69 per cent, 66.7 per cent and 96.3 percent respectively.

Unsurprisingly for a Russell Group university, Leeds’ entry standards also make it the 21st hardest university to get into out of all the institutions that were ranked; you need 161 UCAS points.

Elsewhere, Leeds Beckett and Leeds Trinity both improved on their scores from 2023, with Beckett leaping 12 places, from 113th to 101st and Trinity rising eight, finishing in 92nd.

Unfortunately the same wasn’t the case for Leeds Arts University, which fell 18 spots from 71st to joint 89th with Bishop Grosseteste University in Lincoln.
