Assassin's Creed Shadows characters location

From characters to location: Everything we know about Assassin’s Creed: Shadows so far

I genuinely cannot wait

Everyone, please remain calm but the first official trailer for Ubisoft’s newest upcoming game, Assassin’s Creed: Shadows is releasing this afternoon and we’ll finally know a lot more about the different characters and location of the game.

There have been a lot of rumours, plus a hefty dose of leaks, surrounding the game, but what exactly do we know so far? From what time period the stunning game could be set to who we could be playing in the game, here’s everything we know so far.

When does the trailer release?

Luckily you don’t have to wait too long for the Assassin’s Creed: Shadows trailer to release as it will be available to watch at 5pm in the UK today, where we can expect to find out lots more about the different playable characters and see more of its gorgeous location.

What do we know about the protagonists so far?

Some leaked artwork seems to confirm that Assassin’s Creed: Shadows will contain two playable protagonists, a male and female. The male seems to be Yasuke who is based on an actual historical figure, whilst the female is claimed to be called Naoe by known leaker j0nathan.

Unlike previous Assassin’s Creed games where you choose which gender to play as, it looks like Shadows could follow a more similar path to that of Syndicate where players will play as both characters throughout the game.

Will the game contain a battle pass system?

Insider Tom Henderson has claimed that the new Assassin’s Creed game will feature “Projects” which are basically mini battle passes, containing 20 levels each which you can progress through to unlock new cosmetics. He claims three of them are called The Hidden Network, The Last Ronin and In The Shadows.

Where will Assassin’s Creed: Shadows be set?

Whilst the specific time and location of Assassin’s Creed: Shadows haven’t yet been confirmed it’s rumoured to be set in the Feudal Period of Japan and could feature samurai-style characters. But all will be revealed once the trailer is released. I’m expecting some gorgeous Japanese temples and lots of cherry blossoms, please!

Does the game have a release date yet?

Again the release date has not been officially confirmed yet, however, one Twitter user @maltheoslfc spotted that in the description of the trailer, a release date was included, but Ubisoft has since removed this. If the description is correct we could be getting the game on November 15 of this year.

What platforms will the game be released on?

It’s already possible to add the game to your wishlist on the Ubisoft Store and via journalist Andrew Marmo, listing data has revealed that Assassin’s Creed: Shadows will be released on PC, PS5 and Xbox Series X and S platforms.

Ultimately all of this is pure speculation and a lot of our questions will be answered when the trailer drops this afternoon!
