From Barbie to The Bear: Here are all the winners at the Golden Globes 2024

Cillian Murphy won Best Actor with his wife’s lipstick all over his face

Oppenheimer was one of the big winners of the Golden Globes 2024 after scooping up five awards.

The glitzy, star-studded 81st annual ceremony saw the biopic of the father of the atomic bomb be awarded Best Drama, along with Cillian Murphy snagging the Best Actor gong for the titular role at award show. Robert Downey Jr got Best Supporting in a Drama for his turn as the scientist’s nemesis, Lewis Strauss. Christopher Nolan got Best Director, and Ludwig Goransson was celebrated for his score.

Lily Gladstone made Hollywood history when she became the first Indigenous woman to come out on top in the Best Actress in a Drama category for her turn as Mollie Burkhart in the Martin Scorsese epic Killers of the Flower Moon. Beef’s Ali Wong and Steven Yeun also marked a double-whammy landmark moment as they became the first Asian-American performers to win their Best Actor and Actress categories for in a limited series. This seems like a long-overdue development.

On the telly front, Succession came out on top in the drama portion. The HBO series, which ended this May after four seasons,  won Best Drama while two of the Roy siblings, Siobhan and Roman, played by Sarah Snook and Kieran Culkin, respectively, were given Best Actress and Actor. Matthew MacFadyen, who was critically lauded for his performance as scheming and eventual Waystar Royco CEO Tom Wambsgans, came away as Best Supporting Actor.

The Bear followed behind, taking home three awards, including Best Comedy, Best Actor for the internet’s newest crush, Jeremy Allen White and Best Actress for Ayo Edebiri.

Barbie came away with much less than expected, getting the brand new Cinematic and Box Office Achievement Award. The Margot Robbie and Ryan Gosling-led summer blockbuster beat out the record-smashing Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour, the highest-grossing tour movie of all time.
