What heartbreakingly happens between Francesca and John Stirling in the Bridgerton books

I’m not emotionally prepared

Whilst the third season of Bridgerton is focusing on the friends-to-lovers romance between Penelope and Colin, there is another blossoming romance happening between Francesca and John Stirling. The two are a pair of cuties but we might have to wait until the end of this season or even next to find out what happens between Francesca and John Stirling, so in the Bridgerton books what ends up happening between the pair?

Well, first off if you don’t want any spoilers stop reading now, and secondly I’d recommend you have some tissues at the ready because their story is absolutely heartbreaking. According to the Bridgerton books the two quickly realise their special connection and waste no time getting married. The two spend two years in marital bliss together before a devasting tragedy occurs as John sadly passes away from an unexpected brain aneurysm.

His sudden death devastates Francesca, especially as the two never got to have children together and she is left a widow. However, his death then paves the way for her new romance which is the theme of her book. Titles When He Was Wicked, the book takes place after the death of John Stirling with Francesca meeting his cousin Michael Stirling who was his heir.

After the two share a secret kiss Francesca runs away to Scotland as she feels she has betrayed her former husband. However, Michael obviously follows her there and convinces her that she should not feel ashamed of her feelings and that John would want her to be happy. Eventually, the two get married and have two children together named John and Janet. Sounds like that season’s plotline will be a real tearjerker.
