Every time actors have savagely complained about how much they hated their show

I’m convinced Penn Badgley just hates every show he’s ever been in at this point

Despite the fact that the actors seemingly have a pretty good gig most of the time, they seem to spend half of it complaining about how much they utterly detest the show that made them famous in the first place. Whether it’s a disappointing finale or something they feel is out of character, apparently there’s a lot to be bitter about.

So, here’s a rundown of every time actors have savagely complained about how much they hated their show.

Kit Harington

We all knew this actor was going to be included in the list after his very savage recent comments regarding the ending of Game of Thrones, the show that really sent his career into overdrive as Jon Snow.

During an interview with GQ, he admitted: “I think there were mistakes made, story-wise towards the end maybe. I think there were some interesting choices that didn’t quite work. I think if there was any fault with the end of ‘Thrones, it’s that we were all so f*king tired, we couldn’t have gone on longer. And so I understand some people thought it was rushed and I might agree with them. But I’m not sure there was any alternative.”

Emilia Clarke

Continuing on with the Game of Thrones theme, Emilia Clarke was also disappointed by the ending of the show and her ultimate character arc. I mean, who wasn’t fuming at what they decided to do with Daenerys’ storyline?

In an interview with The Guardian she admitted she struggled to deal with plot choices for the final season, saying: “It was definitely a challenge. I walked out my door, took my keys, forgot my phone and just kept walking.”

In another discussion with The Times, she spoke about her frustration with how her character was treated compared to Jon Snow. She explained: “I really felt for her. And yeah, was I annoyed that Jon Snow didn’t have to deal with something? He got away with murder — literally.

“I knew how I felt when I first read it, and I tried, at every turn, not to consider too much what other people might say, but I did always consider what the fans might think — because we did it for them, and they were the ones who made us successful, so … it’s just polite, isn’t it?”

Penn Badgley

This man is such a hater and I absolutely love it. He has not held back on his pure hatred for being part of Gossip Girl, especially in regards to *that* twist ending.

In a 2013 interview with Vulture, he was asked what he thought about the ending of the show, saying: “I have to bite my tongue there. The end was strange for me, for all of us. That has been my problem with television — you start with something real, and it eventually becomes, against all odds. That’s not the writers’ fault. It’s just the nature of television.”

It only took a couple more years for him to become even more outspoken surrounding the reveal, telling People in 2015: “It doesn’t make sense at all. It wouldn’t have made sense for anybody. Gossip Girl doesn’t make sense!” Truer words have never been spoken.

Chace Crawford

Chace Crawford has joined the ranks of being a Gossip Girl hater, and I think he’s even more savage about the show than Penn was. And that’s saying something. He told Us Weekly when the show was ending: “I’m gonna look for my dignity. My dignity is somewhere on set. I think it happened around season two. Leading into season three, it was all out the window.”

He reaffirmed his position as a hater of the show in 2020 when Variety asked whether he’d ever rewatch the series: “Buddy, you have to strap me to a gurney and pop my eyes open like in Clockwork Orange.”

David Castañeda

Via Netflix

During an interview with Us Weekly, actor David Castañeda revealed his true thoughts on the unexpected romance at the end of The Umbrella Academy, and it’s really savage.

He admitted: “No, I didn’t understand. I was pissed off. I was angry. I talked to [our showrunner] Steve a few times. I was like, ‘Hey, does this really have to happen?’”

Jenna Ortega

Via Netflix

Jenna Ortega really wasn’t a fan of the original season one script for Wednesday, telling Dax Shepard on his podcast: “Her being in a love triangle made no sense. Everything that Wednesday does, everything that I had to play, does not make sense for her character at all.”

Alexis Bledel

Via Netflix

I’m a die hard Gilmore Girls watcher and will defend that show until my last breath, but even I didn’t like A Year in the Life one bit. Unsurprisingly, neither did Alexis Bledel when she found out Roy was pregnant.

She admitted: “It certainly wasn’t the ending I expected. I had told [creator] Amy [Sherman-Palladino] that I hoped Rory would end on a high note after all of her hard work. I wanted to see her succeed and be thriving. So it was a hard thing for me to digest.”
