Um, best man claims Maria also said no to Tom at the altar, but Netflix edited it out?!

He claims Netflix reshot the scene despite ‘everyone in the building knowing it was going to be a mutual no’

During the Love is Blind UK weddings, Maria and Tom ended up parting ways after he said no to her at the altar due to their “cultural differences.”

It seemed that Maria was completely blindsided by his answer, and to be honest, so were we. It looked like after the chat with her mum about looking after her these two were set to wed. But perhaps Tom’s answer wasn’t as much of a shock to Maria as we were first led to believe, or so his best man is claiming.

Tom posted a video to his Instagram where he explained why he ended up saying no to Maria at the Love is Blind UK altar and his best man, Ross Standaloft, left a very interesting comment underneath.

He wrote: “I was there at the wedding – everyone in the building knew it was going to be a mutual no. When the celebrant asked Tom first, he did an amazing speech speaking for the both of them – it was really perfect, Maria was happy, we were all in tears.

“They then said ‘No no, Tom you have to come in again and just speak for yourself this time’. They then re-shot it like this and edited it to look like no one knew and Tom was dropping a bomb – absolute madness! But that’s TV people, drama drama dramaaa! ”

We know that Ross was 100 per cent at the wedding as he’s literally in the scene with Tom, and he’s posted lots of pictures with the pair of them hanging out, so it’s not like this is a complete random either. If it’s true it could completely change the way Tom would have come across, as a lot of people heavily criticised him for dumping Maria so unexpectedly at the Love is Blind UK altar.

Maria has also referenced them both feeling the same way in an interview with the Radio Times. She revealed that she and Tom “were on the same page”. She added: “We knew it was going to be a no, we knew there was so much more that we had to learn about each other and realistically we knew there were people out there that were going to make us happier.”

The Tab has reached out to Netflix for comment but has currently received no response.
