Oasis ticketholders could be entitled to sue Ticketmaster over dynamic pricing drama
Ticketmaster customers had to unexpectedly deal with tickets doubling in prices
In the newest update surrounding the Ticketmaster dynamic pricing fiasco over Oasis tickets for their upcoming tour, lawyers are now saying ticketholders could be entitled to sue Ticketmaster over the unexpected increase in prices.
Lawyers say that Ticketmasters’ use of dynamic pricing could have breached customer law as they were not told in advance that prices would increase from the advertised £148 to £335. So far the UK government have stated they will be looking into the practice of dynamic pricing but in the meantime, those who bought tickets may be able to sue and claim their money back.

Richard Pike, a partner at Fieldfisher, told The Telegraph that those who bought Oasis tickets for more than was initially advertised could bring legal action against Ticketmaster for breaches of consumer law, common law actions or misrepresentation, or even sue.
He explained: “They could be for breaches of consumer law, or common law actions, misrepresentation. There are all sorts of things they could do there. They’d have to bring a High Court claim. The way it works is, like the adverts you see on TV saying, ‘Have you had an accident? Did you buy PPI?’, it would be like, ‘Did you buy an Oasis ticket for quite an expensive price?’

He continued: “You could theoretically do that. In terms of the merits of action, I think there are arguments there. I don’t know about you but I wasn’t expecting there to be this dynamic pricing. It only became apparent after I’d been on the phone for quite some time already. You can see psychologically there’s commitment there. When you’ve waited that long already, you’re liable to pay more than you otherwise would. They are taking advantage of you.”
Lawyers also added that customers who were in the queue were not informed about how many tickets remained, or how many others were behind them in the queue, something that represented potential breaches of consumer protection legislation.
