We asked ChatGPT for where to go on a night out in Lincoln, and it kind of delivered

From student nights to more sophisticated evenings, here’s what AI had to say

Some people use Chat GPT to make social media posts, maybe write them a cover letter, or even do their uni assignments for them.

It’s truly helped us become lazier than ever, not that I’m complaining.

So, we wanted to jump on the bandwagon but we wanted to ask Chat GPT something that we knew students would truly care about: where to go on a night out.

Therefore, here’s what it had to say when we asked it what the best nights out are in Lincoln based on vibe, price and crowd.

The best student nights

The vibe of these venues are high-energy aimed towards the student crowd, offering discounted drinks, themed events and mainstream music, such as chart hits, dance and R&B.

From Ardee to Taylor Swift to even Oasis these places have you covered.

Key locations:  Superbull which takes over a three-level venue – Bierkeller, LEVEL and Void. This event is best known for its wild party vibe as well as its mascot, the Superbull.

Quack is your mid-week event held at The Engine Shed, in the heart of the University of Lincoln’s campus. Its quirky themes and rubber duck throw is an iconic part of the Lincoln uni experience.

Of course, we must mention the Tuesday event at Home nightclub, Union. This is known for its huge venue that you can easily get lost in, with fun-themed events like the carnival or monster-mash.

Price: Affordable, two VKs for a fiver? Sign us up.

Crowd: Primarily students, especially on Wednesdays where you can catch all the different societies on their quacking adventures. Bonus points if you catch a duck.

Bars and pubs

The vibe is more relaxed at these venues, with craft beers or cocktails and sometimes live music. You can begin your crazy night here at an energy-saving, pre-drinking location.

Key locations: Carousel, a bar with an arcade theme, which is perfect for those who get bored of just drinking. With an entire arcade on the second floor, you can beat your friends on the dance machine or at basketball. As you can imagine, no one beats me on the dance machine.

Then you have Mailbox which is a perfect mix of bar and pub vibes, with plenty on during the week such as quizzes and even bingo.

Price: Mid-range, depending on the drinks, however deals are available during specified hours. Who doesn’t love two for one cocktails?

Crowd: A mix of locals and students looking for something more than just a drink.

Live music

If you’re a music lover and want to experience bands up close then these high energy venues will be perfect for you.

Key locations: The Engine Shed is perfect for your larger-scale gigs, with a huge stage and many big-name events, meaning you can see some of your fave artists locally. Holly Humberstone and Scouting for Girls are two of the most notable artists to play here recently.

The Drill Hall was recently renovated for the best experience, this place hosts the more local bands with some bigger names from the area, and they serve food which is a bonus. The pub known for its live music, and The Jolly Brewer, is your key spot for open mic nights and karaoke nights. There’s nothing like getting drunk with your mates and having a sing-along.

Price: Mid-range, bigger events have higher price points.

Crowd: A perfect blend of locals, students and fans that may have travelled from neighbouring towns and cities.

Sober-friendly venues

Whether you’re taking part in sober October, dry January or drinking just isn’t your thing, you shouldn’t have to stay home.

Key locations: Mailbox hosts weekly quizzes, karaoke and bingo, these are perfect events for having fun without the pressure to drink.

Live music and event venues are great for a sober night out too. Café Aroma is an independent coffee shop, known for its double life with hosting rave-style parties typically on a Saturday night, so, with a fun little event like this you can enjoy yourself without having to drink.

For those wanting to avoid the night out scene completely, there are plenty of places to spend your evenings in a more chill environment. The Games Shop stays open late on Wednesday nights, with an open invitation to play games, enter competitions and more. The Botanist and Towers host karaoke and bingo events on some weekdays and weekends. These are an easy way to get out of the house and have a bit of fun.

Price: Some of these events charge to get involved, however, not all of them do. The Mailbox quiz and karaoke are completely free of charge to play and The Games Shop is free too.

Crowd: With this sort of thing you get a good range of students, locals and young people, so these venues are really open to anyone and everyone.
