‘They didn’t like each other’: The It Ends With Us crew are now speaking out on the drama

Talk about a stressful work environment

You saw Blake Lively and Justin Baldoni avoid each other on the It Ends With Us press tour. You heard rumours about drama in the It Ends With Us writers’s room. You read Brandon Sklenar’s rant on Instagram defending Blake Lively. Now, three anonymous crew members who worked on It Ends With Us have spoken out to Rolling Stone about their experiences on the set and not going to lie, it sounds pretty hellish.

Blake Lively and Justin Baldoni had very different approaches

One crew member from It Ends With Us spoke about Blake Lively and Justin Baldoni’s very different approaches to the film. “Everyone knew that they didn’t like each other. I think some of the rumours online seem a little strong. I don’t think they hate each other. But I don’t think they would work together again.

“Their styles are way too different. Blake is very business-minded and very practical. Justin…is so on the other side of why he makes art that they were never going to be friends.”

This makes sense considering some of the rumours about Lively and Ryan Reynolds’s behaviour on set. People believe that Lively and Baldoni each made their own version of the film. Test audiences thought that Baldoni’s version was way better, but because Reynolds and Lively funded so much of the film, they supposedly had the power to pick Lively’s version.

People think that Baldoni’s cut of the film had a different poster, which he revealed on his Instagram.

It Ends With Us wasn’t the right film for Justin Baldoni to direct

Another It Ends With Us crew member revealed: “There were such conflicting ideas of how to make the movie, and since Blake was bankrolling it, Justin couldn’t really put his foot down. But also he didn’t really have a strong opinion.

“He’s very good at directing actors and he’s good at acting, he’s an actor’s director, but as far as the direction of the entire picture goes, I don’t think it was his sort of film.”

Ouch. But then, if Baldoni hadn’t directed It Ends With Us, we wouldn’t have had such juicy drama to keep us entertained for a month.

Blake Lively and Justin Baldoni avoided each other as much as possible

A third crew member who worked on It Ends With Us has commented on Lively and Baldoni’s relationship, saying the crew “never saw them together” unless they absolutely had to be together.

This definitely lines up with previous rumours about It Ends With Us. Lively and Baldoni didn’t do any interviews together and weren’t pictured together at the premiere, despite playing the lead characters.

A source previously told People that rest of the cast dodged being near Baldoni too. They said: “All is not what it seems. The principle cast and Colleen Hoover will have nothing to do with him.”

At the premiere, the actress Jenny Slate completely avoided commenting on what it was like to work with Baldoni.

Perhaps Coleen Hoover’s next novel should be a dramatisation of whatever went down on set. It sounds way less dull than the actual plot of It Ends With Us.
