People are saying Alanna from Selling Sunset is actually a producer plant – here’s all the evidence

She actually tries to sell houses and that’s sus

Alanna Gold is new to Selling Sunset, but is already making waves by claiming that she owns a town (she doesn’t). However, people are concerned that Alanna isn’t a serious real estate agent and is actually a plant by the producers to add more drama to Selling Sunset.

Here is all the (kinda convincing?) evidence that Alanna from Selling Sunset could actually be a producer plant:

Alanna’s not * technically * a licensed realtor at the moment

Alanna Gold was working for the Oppeneheim Group when season eight of Selling Sunset was being filmed. However, she doesn’t have an active real estate license right now. She’s also not listed as an agent on the Oppenheim Group’s official website. This is deeply mysterious and I am deeply invested.

She has barely any experience in real estate

According to Screen Rant, Alanna has only been working in real estate since 2021.  Screen Rant noted that even though many of the OG cast members were at the beginnings of their careers at the start of Selling Sunset, most of the recent additions to the show, such as Nicole Young, were already successful real estate agents before they were scouted to join the Oppenheim Group and be on Selling Sunset.

Before the show, Alanna trained to be a vet, but realised she was allergic to animals and became a model instead. She began working at the Westside Estate Agency in Malibu in 2021, then joined the Oppenheim Group in November 2023. It’s really rogue that Alanna has joined the agency with such little experience.

The last few seasons of Selling Sunset have been criticised for becoming less focused on real estate, and more about the melodrama. Alanna was a breath of fresh air this season because she actually seems bothered about selling houses. Unlike the rest of the agents, her clothes vaguely resemble something that people would really wear to an office. This season, she seems to care more about doing her job than getting involved in Selling Sunset’s juicy drama (each to their own, I guess). Could it be that the producers put her in the this season to help reorientate the show towards real estate?

She’s totally different to the other Selling Sunset agents

Reddit users have theorised that the producers put her in the show in order to fill a void created by other cast members leaving. Netflix viewers compared Alanna’s calmer vibe and stronger work ethic to that of Maya Vander, who quite the show in 2022. It’s in the producers best interests to have a balance of personalities among the main cast members, so that the show feels less repetitive and people tolerate watching it for longer.
