Police issue major update and ‘rule out’ girl who thinks she could be Madeleine McCann

This comes after her parents provided evidence of her ‘lies’

Police in Poland have given an update on the case of the girl who thinks she could be Madeleine McCann, following her parents saying all her claims have been lies.

Polish police have thrown out claims made by 21-year-old Julia, who has gone viral since saying she has “evidence” she could be Madeleine McCann. Julia said she has similar marks on her body to Madeleine, can’t remember her childhood, is suspicious of her parents, and has never been able to access her birth certificate.

However, Pawel Noga of the Provincial Police Headquarters in Wroclaw, has confirmed the claims have been “ruled out” and police in Poland do not think there is any indication Julia could be Madeleine.

This comes as Julia’s parents also rubbished her claims, saying she has always “wanted to be popular” and has left them “devastated” in the current situation. They claim they have pictures of Julia as a child, and a copy of her birth certificate, all of which prove her claims to be false.

Speaking through a Polish charity called Missing Years Ago, her family said: “For us as a family it is obvious that Julia is our daughter, granddaughter, sister, niece, cousin and step niece. We have memories, we have pictures. Julia also has these photos, because she took them from the family home with the birth certificate, as well as numerous hospital discharges.”

The family went on to say Julia is spreading “lies on the internet” and accused her of sending threats to their home address. “We always tried to understand all situations that happened with Julia,” the family continued. “Threats to our address from Julia, her lies and manipulations, activity on the internet.

“We’ve seen it all and we’ve tried to prevent it, to explain, we’ve asked her to stop. We always tried to help her get back on her feet. Julia has been of age for several years. She has moved out of the house. Julia once wanted to be a singer, a model. She always wanted to be popular. What’s happening now she got one million followers.

“We’re afraid Julia will carry the inevitable. The internet won’t forget, and it’s obvious that Julia isn’t Maddie. We are devastated at this current situation.”

Julia previously said she had been in contact with multiple police forces about her beliefs, but had been told authorities weren’t interested. Since then, it’s been reported Julia has been in contact with a member of the McCann family, who has agreed to a DNA test.

Posting on her viral Instagram page, Julia shared screenshots of emails between herself and Operation Grange. Operation Grange was set up in 2011 to look at the case of Madeleine McCann.

Speaking exclusively to The Tab, Julia previously said she has reached out to police multiple times but has been told they will not be investigating. “I called my local police, Capital city police, the Met police, Portugal police and Crimestoppers,” she said. “A few months ago I talked with Operation Grange, too.”
