Taylor Swift 1989 theory

Inside the wild theory that 1989 is about Taylor Swift and Harry Styles doing a hit and run

‘Remember when you hit the brakes too soon?’

With the news that the Taylor’s Version release of 1989, the greatest pure pop Taylor Swift album, is merely a matter of months away,  I thought it might be apt to take you down the bizarre road of one of the wildest theories Swifties have ever put into the world – the theory that 1989 is about her and Harry Styles committing vehicular manslaughter. Stay with me, guys! Bear with me! It’s just a theory, and I don’t believe a crumb of it, but here’s all the reasons that point to 1989 by Taylor Swift actually being all about her and Harry Styles committing a hit and run.

‘Remember when you hit the brakes too soon?’

For those living under rocks, Taylor Swift and Harry Styles dated for three months just before the 1989 era, at the end of 2013 and into 2014. It’s long been presumed true that songs on 1989 were about the end of Taylor’s relationship with Harry Styles, specifically Style, Out Of The Woods and Clean.

The theory about the hit and run comes out of the lyrical content in these songs. For example, Style opens with “Midnight, you come and pick me up no headlights” and then goes on to say “He can’t keep his wild eyes on the road.” Out Of The Woods, which directly follows Style, has lyrics like “Remember when you hit the brakes too soon, 20 stiches in a hospital room” and a chorus and song title that literally says are we out of the woods and are we in the clear.

Considering a grand total of 0 sane people believe this theory, and there’s 0 chance of any vehicular manslaughter being committed by two of pop music’s biggest titans – it’s pretty fair to say that Swift and Styles are out of the woods and can sleep easy tonight. Still, it’s funny to laugh at the Swiftie carnage.
